The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) has announced that Tiana Young has been named 2016 Chapter President of the Year. Young, president of SMPS Twin Cities, was honored at Build Business, the SMPS annual conference on Aug. 11 during The Society Gala.
SMPS says the Chapter President of the Year Award recognizes an SMPS chapter president who has demonstrated excellence in leadership while serving the chapter and its members. Both self and peer nominations are welcome and nominations must be made by a current SMPS member.
Since joining SMPS Twin Cities in 2007, Young has been an active member, holding several leadership roles from education co-chair to secretary/treasurer. Under her guidance and direction as president, SMPS Twin Cities has started a new member breakfast with a 90 percent attendance rate, promoted local organizations to boost the chapter’s visibility, and increased the chapter’s LinkedIn followers and Twitter impressions by more than 250 percent. In addition, they’ve debuted five new chapter initiatives and grown membership by 12 percent.
Young’s dedication to the chapter and SMPS go even further. She has mentored board members, written letters of support to volunteers’ supervisors, and sent handwritten notes to new members. According to one of her nominators, she has a knack for getting things done—whether it’s exceeding membership goals, improving financial stability, or increasing the chapter’s visibility. As president of SMPS Twin Cities, Young has gone above and beyond as a leader setting a new standard of excellence, SMPS says in its announcement.
