Onefire.com suggests it can provide augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) marketing services for the construction industry and has provided a test example of a AR image that viewers should be able to view on their smartphones.
Maybe its early in the morning and I’ve done something wrong. I followed the instructions to download the relevant image to my computer screen, and then (quickly) accessed the onefire app on my Android smartphone, but the image didn’t register very well.
This isn’t to criticize the service/agency — it is probably me.
However, the experience reveals one of the challenges of the new tools — you need to take some additional steps, namely implementing some sort of viewing device — think Google Cardboard — associated with a properly aligned smartphone or specialized viewer — to gain the value of these new concepts.
If things work, you gain the marketing advantage of immersive commitment and engagement — but if they don’t, you perhaps lose the client before you can complete your introductions.
Onefire.com asserts in its marketing materials some of the advantages and resources for AR/VR in construction-related marketing.

Traditionally, training new employees or technicians relied on instruction manuals – not the easiest thing to use while running maintenance on a job site or in the field. With AR, those in training or any employee can use augmented reality hardware to see real-time instruction superimposed onto the machine or site they’re tasked with addressing. That can be applied to measurements, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all types. Instead of frantically flipping through a manual, the information you need literally appears in your field of vision. Augmented reality can even point things out to you and walk you carefully through any process you may need to complete. Training becomes more efficient and less of a hassle.
Augmented reality examples for construction are not hard to come by. The ability to mix the virtual world with the physical world lends itself to nearly endless possibilities.
