The LinkedIn Construction Marketing Ideas group has about 5,500 members, and is growing by between five and 15 members a day. My main task in moderating the group is managing spam postings; self-promotional advertisements and comments. This stuff only takes a few minutes a day.
Nevertheless, while the group has reached the stage where it is growing naturally, the question is: Can there be more? LinkedIn respects privacy and, while group organizers and moderators can control abuse, they can?t abuse the process themselves ? for example, by data-mining and spamming members with direct email communications.
The system, however, allows a once-a-week moderator?s announcement, and last night, I decided to put the system to the test, creating an offer for a free subscription to the Construction Marketing Ideas newsletter, and some of the other free stuff you can find by searching through previous Construction Marketing Ideas blog postings.
So far (at 5 a.m. edt), seven readers have responded; we?ll see whether the floodgates open when North American business hours commence. (The LinkedIn group has an international audience, but most members are in Canada and the U.S.)
I?ve also posted the wufoo.com form below, and at the constructionmarketingideas.blogspot.com site.
