Awards competitions can be powerful marketing tools because, if you win, you can apply the recognition your other marketing materials in a brand-enhancing process.
The story is somewhat different for internal industry marketing awards, such as the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Marketing Communications Awards.
While it probably doesn’t hurt your personal/internal branding reputation to win these awards, I think their main value is for you to learn about what others have done, to see if you can apply the concepts in your own marketing.
I’ve been a finalist judge in several of the competitions in previous years, and although I cannot speak for other panelists, my vote always was based on the marketer’s validation of the campaign’s effectiveness. If the concept achieved meaningful results for a similar business/practice in a non-competitive market, why not apply it in your own community?
Here’s the news release from the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) announcing the finalists for the 2018 competition. The list, you’ll see, is quite long, but you can still study the finalists in relevant categories in determining your own marketing ideas.
The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the premier A/E/C marketing and business development association, is pleased to announce the finalists of its 2018 Marketing Communications Awards (MCA).
This annual competition is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards program recognizing excellence in marketing and communications by professional services firms in the design and building industries. The SMPS Marketing Communications Awards (MCA) program acknowledges teams that create outstanding communication vehicles for architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms. You may view the finalists’ entries by visiting the online MCA Gallery sponsored by Cosential.
Congratulations to the following firms that have been named finalists.
