The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) has announced that Kenny Diehl has been honored with the 2016 Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award. Diehl, a member of SMPS Nashville, accepted his award at Build Business, the SMPS annual conference, in August.
The award, SMPS’s highest honor, salutes a remarkable marketing or business development professional whose career achievements, leadership role, and lasting contributions to the industry are exemplary. Diehl is the 25th recipient of the award, named in memory of marketing pioneer, SMPS founder, and past honoree Weld Coxe.
Diehl’s career has been matched by few, with significant achievements in marketing and business development and in technical and operational roles. After working as an environmental engineer, he became a marketer and business developer. During the next two decades, Diehl became a respected leader who has advanced the marketing profession, SMPS says in a news release.
He has been an active member of SMPS since 1982 and currently serves as senior principal at Smith Seckman Reid (SSR) in Nashville, TN. His unique mix of experience and strong mentoring abilities have earned him the respect of colleagues, marketers, and engineers. Diehl’s impact on SMPS and marketing professional services has been extraordinary and admired by countless colleagues.
During his award acceptance, Diehl spoke about the overwhelming support from his wife, Patty, who joined him at The Society Gala. He also thanked his friends and mentors.
“I have been blessed to know each of the 24 Weld Coxe Award recipients through SMPS and other business ventures. To me they are giants, mentors, inspirations, and friends.” Diehl adds, “I am deeply honored and humbled to be the recipient of this award that bears Weld’s name and the legacy of my 24 friends.” You can view Diehl’s acceptance speech by clicking here.
