Another look at the science of persuasion

If you are interested in the science behind successful marketing, you’ll find this YouTube animation posted last year to be enlightening.  Robert Ciandini and Steve Martin outline six key concepts in Secrets from the Science of Persuasion, and beginning tomorrow, I’ll report and reference their observations and provide other source information to observe how each of the principles applies in practice.

They are:

  1. Reciprocity
  2. Scarcity
  3. Authority
  4. Consistency
  5. Liking
  6. Consensus

Get these right, and you may discover surprisingly effective (and extremely inexpensive) changes can significantly improve your marketing and sales results. Just remember, you can use these tools for good or evil — and you should apply your marketing science applications with a solid ethical grounding.
