As the last afternoon’s extended nomination deadline arrived, the competition has intensified, with a late-entry forum, Mike Rowe Works Water Cooler skyrocketing to the top. Nominated by SLS Construction of Cullman, AL (The Homeowner’s Resource Center), this group of passionate tradespeople and entrepreneurs is built on the foundation of Rowe’s “Dirty Jobs” television series.
Water Works Cooler supporters also propelled interest in SLS Construction, increasing its standings to third place. However, Bobby Darnell’s Building New Business remains in first place, and Tim Nagle’s Remodel Buddy is in second. In the forums category, Remodelcrazy.com is second and Breaktime (finehomebuilding.com) is third.
Success in this competition will likely be defined by how much support bloggers and forums can attract for themselves. However, I’ve set a long enough competition time to allow individual blog readers, one by one, to contribute to the results. This popularity contest is not scientific, and if you are a purist, you might say doesn’t represent merit as much as it reflects organizing and vote-gathering ability more than quality. But I suppose you could describe the same for the political results of any democracy!
I will update results each week and profile/highlight interesting updates until the contest closes at 5 p.m. on February 28. You can only vote once, of course, but you certainly can tell your friends and colleagues about the competition and encourage them to vote. The final nomination/voting form is below and will continue to be posted on this blog’s sidebar until the deadline.
